One of the highlights of this season is the new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's FLOWER DRUM SONG. After a critically acclaimed sold-out engagement at The Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, this new production has a brand new book by the Tony Award winning playwright of M.BUTTERFLY, David Henry Hwang. While retaining characters and plot elements from the original show, Mr. Hwang has returned to the themes of C.Y. Lee's original novel, about cultural assimilation, and the struggle to become authentically American without abandoning traditions. The musical brings back to Broadway Tony Award winner Lea Salonga as Mei-Li. Co-starring is Jose Llana as Ta, Sandra Allen as Linda Low, Jodi Long as Madame Liang and Randall Duk Kim as Master Wang. FLOWER DRUM SONG is directed and choreographed by Robert Longbottom.
